We are on the verge of a brand new year. It is 11:38pm on the last day of 2009 and here I sit, with Electra, waiting for the fireworks to commence, which is a bit of deja vu. Every year it seems to be the same. Tonight we are splurging. I am sipping some Trader Joe's form of champagne while Electra, who planned ahead with her carb count, is enjoying sparkling apple cider. I can remember many a days back when I loved the idea of getting all dolled up to head out to celebrate the turning of the clock, yet tonight I could not be more content staying home, chillin' with the family and ringing in the new year with Electra. After what we have been through the past few months, Annie still in the hospital and Electra so bravely dealing with her new situation, I feel nothing but fortunate to be able to spend time with my family even if half of them are asleep!
Happy New Year!
